CEPSA Foundation Chair on Energy and Environment

The activities carried out by the CEPSA Foundation are:

  • Activities related to teaching, research, technological innovation and dissemination of the subject of the Chair: Promotion, execution and direction of final degree/master's projects, holding of seminars and conferences, preparation of teaching material, granting of scholarships and aid, call for a prize for the best Final Year Project whose contents are related to the subject of the Chair.

ANEFA Chair

The ANEFA Chair in Aggregate Technology is one of the University-Business Chairs of the ETS of Mining Engineers at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), which aims to enhance the relationship between University-Business. This Chair was created in 2001, and is sponsored by the National Association of Aggregate Manufacturers - ANEFA.

Since 2017, it has been given a new focus of activities, with the organization of several technical conferences of great interest for professionals in the sector and students who wish to expand their knowledge in some subjects.

Inaugurated on Tuesday, February 12, the chair was created with the aim of promoting collaboration between the university and the company through a program that includes training, research, scholarships, internships and aid for studies in mining exploitation. This is a strategic union, with a long-term vision, through which both parties benefit from the results of the research, training and commitment of those involved in the project.

In 2006, and by virtue of an agreement signed between Exolum and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), the Chair of Hydrocarbon Metrology was created with a triple aspect in the fields of training, R&D&I and work. laboratory. Currently the director of the chair is Agustín García-Berrocal Sánchez.

CEMEX Chair - Future in Action

The CEMEX Chair - Future in Action It was established in 2000 through a collaboration agreement signed between the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Compañía Valenciana de Cementos Portland, SA (today CEMEX España, SA).

This Chair was created with the aim of enhancing the knowledge of the students of the School of Mines in the area of ​​construction materials, and more specifically, in matters of cement, mortar and concrete, so that they have the possibility of joining the sector as highly specialized and competitive professionals.

The ROBECO Chair in Sustainability and Primary Resources belongs to the list of University-Business Chairs of the Higher Technical School of Mining and Energy Engineers (ETSIME) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM).

This agreement, signed in 2022, represents a confluence of interests and sharing, where the University (UPM) and the Company (Robeco) show their interest and effort in introducing sustainability as an inexcusable concept in the relationship between human activity and the environment, the economy, and its own correspondence as a society.

ATLANTIC COPPER Chair

On May 6, 2013, the Gómez Pardo Foundation, collaborator of the Higher Technical School of Mining and Energy Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and the copper producing company ATLANTIC COPPER, signed a framework collaboration agreement, as a result of which the ATLANTIC COPPER Chair, dedicated to promoting the carrying out of works and studies in the field of metal mining and non-ferrous extractive metallurgy with special attention to copper, as well as the training activities and publications derived from said works and studies, with the aim of contributing to the development and consolidation of research and advancement of knowledge in the aforementioned field.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Program in 1992 with the aim of strengthening international cooperation between higher education institutions and programs through exchange and constitution of networks. Within this framework, the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and UNESCO signed, on November 9, 1999, an agreement for the creation of the UNESCO Chair of University Management and Policy of the UPM, based at the Higher Technical School of Mining Engineers of Madrid, and is the first that UNESCO dedicates to university policy.
