LXVI Geology Camp in the Central Pyrenees
(July 15-25, 2024)

The summer course “Geology camp in the Central Pyrenees” is a training activity of the UPM, within the specific catalog of the ETSIME, recognized with two 3 ECTS credits

This course began in 1957, and since then it has been maintained almost uninterruptedly, being of special interest for the different degrees and master's degrees related to earth sciences. It develops in the transversal section of the South-Central Pyrenees, from the Sierras Marginales to the Alta Cadena.

It is an activity that brings together professionals and students, both Spanish and foreign, which is why it constitutes an indisputable source of exchange, not only in the professional and cultural part, but also in the field of human relations.

1.Visit to the ENAGAS CO2 capture and storage center, in the town of Jaca.

2.Alpine cycle: Relationship between Alpine and Paleozoic units: Aguas Tuertas. Aragón Subordán. Made.

3.Alpine Cycle: Flysch and Eocene marls. Cut to the Oligocene. Made in Jaca.

4.Alpine Cycle: Relationship between Alpine and Paleozoic units.

5. Alpine Cycle: Central South Pyrenean Unit. Series from the Upper Cretaceous to the Eocene. Pyrenean tectonics. Añisclo. Bielsa.

6. Alpine Cycle: Central South Pyrenean Unit. Cotiella, Monte Perdido and Gavarnie units. Route through Collado de Sahún to Pineta. Stowage and La Larri. Bielsa.

7. Hercynian Cycle: Paleozoic, from the Ordovician to the Carboniferous. Granites. Contact metamorphism. Valibierna and Plan de d'Estang. Benasque.

8. Hercynian Cycle: Paleozoic, from the Silurian to the Carboniferous. Devonian series. Baliera and Sierra Negra units. Hercynian tectonics. Benasque.

9. Hercynian Cycle: Paleozoic, from the Silurian to the Carboniferous. Rueda and Cerler Mountain Court. Benasque.
