In the search for an economy without greenhouse gas emissions, there are different paths within renewable technologies. However, given the required speed, the presence of other non-renewable resources such as gas or uranium is contemplated, even if temporarily.

The uranium-based supply chain has always attracted interest. Doubts arise, at the supply level and therefore at its price, motivated by greater demand in the face of energy security and commitments to decarbonization that suggest increasing nuclear generation.

In this context, there is a structural shortage in its supply, caused by a decade of low investments after the Fukushima accident, with talk of the possibility of a deficit in 2035 after global nuclear policies that resume nuclear energy. In this in-person session of the Robeco Chair, we will analyze the possibilities of Europe, and of Spain specifically, to achieve the sought-after energy security.
