MONITOR Project - Presentation and Structure

Presentation and Structure

The MONITOR Project trusts that students from higher education courses who have passed the different subjects in a notable/excellent manner will help, throughout the academic year, the students who take the subject that year, giving academic and training reinforcement supervised by teachers and that is also creditable. This project is part of the Cooperation and Solidarity Activities S-1 of the ETSI MINAS Y ENERGIA, aimed at First Year students.

The project offers 3 to 6 places for students per subject, which They must have passed and taken the 1st or 2nd year subjects of any of the degrees taught at school.

The activity is designed to obtain a recognition of 2 ECTS. This activity will be developed in periods to choose between the first semester or second semester, at times to be defined with the teacher. Since a semester has 15 weeks, the monitors' work will be divided into 2 contact hours and 2 hours of preparation per week. It can be coincided with tutoring hours from the teacher.

DIFFUSION PROCESSES

This program will be published in the following ways:

  • Personalized mail via UPM
  • ETSI Mines and Energy website
  • Through the first year teachers

MONITORING SELECTION

Teachers will be able to choose as monitors those students who have taken and passed the subject, and who they consider best qualified for the position, which already represents recognition for the student. Additionally, if the teacher does not have the candidates, students who wish can fill out a form and answer a series of questions, in addition to submitting a CV. In any case, it will be the teacher who finally chooses the monitors. For each subject and group, two monitors will be selected.

ACTIVITIES TO BE DEVELOPED BY THE MONITORS

The activities to be developed by the monitors will be defined specifically for the subject and will be proposed by the subject teacher. Some activities may be, for example:

  • Help during the teacher's class hours
  • Participate in group tutorials supervised by the teacher. That is, the monitor
  • support will be in charge of giving these tutorials following the instructions of their teacher. Etc.

The UESEVI would establish control mechanisms so that teachers can evaluate the
monitors work

TRAINING OF MONITORS
