Objectives and Structure

The Mentor Program was conceived with two goals clearly defined:

  • Orientation to new students BY classmates from higher courses TO facilitate their adaptation to the Center.
  • The training of students as mentors, enhancing social, relationship, orientation and leadership skills, and indirectly, personal and professional development.

The project is also conceived with a triple orientation:

  • Academic orientation:

– Characteristics and requirements of 1st year subjects, search for academic resources, selection of bibliography, tutorials...
– Planning of the study in general and the training itinerary in particular
– Academic regulations
– Career structure, TRAINING ACTIVITIES, optional
– Mobility program, R&D&I activities,…

  • Social orientation:

– Organization of the Center, location and organization of the Departments.
– Location and organization of laboratories, teachers' offices, library, cyber library, Center secretariat...
– Student associations: Student Delegation, Clubs, etc.
– UPM Services: Sports facilities, cultural and musical activities...
– Professional associations, labor market perspectives

  • Administrative guidance:

– Application procedures for scholarships and study aid, academic certifications, exchange programs, etc.

 

The structure The MENTOR Program has 4 levels:

  • New admission students (MENTORED)
  • Experienced students (MENTORS)
    • Recognized activity (2 ECTS credits)
    • Responsible for the orientation of 4/6 new students
    • Groups with students with special characteristics (personalized)
  • Teachers TUTORS
    • Responsible for the supervision of 4/7 students Mentors
  • COORDINATOR.
