The oil and gas industry offers a wide range of international employment opportunities. The ‘Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía’ (ETSIME), together with its partners, wants to offer pioneering training, in Spain, and with a quality that allows students the best access to jobs in the sector. Today, just over 80% of the primary energy consumed around the world comes from fossil fuels. According to the ‘World Energy Outlook’ of the ‘International Energy Agency’, by 2030 fossil fuels will continue to account for just over 80% of the global mix of primary energy. Among them, oil will remain the most widely used fossil fuel, although its share of the global energy mix will fall slightly, from 34% in 2006 to 30% in 2030. Demand for natural gas will increase, reaching 22% of the total primary energy consumed. And demand for coal will also grow and reach 29% of the total by 2030. In this context, and with the collaboration of different institutions, ETSIME offer a course that is at once, conceptual, applied and up to date with the different challenges currently being faced by the oil and gas industries. This teaching is mainly conducted in English. In addition to the primary knowledge of oil systems and technical expertise, new graduates need to acquire skills that allow them to adapt to a variety of contexts, such as ease of communication, general financial and commercial knowledge, and an open global view.
