The Program provides the necessary skills to work professionally in companies associated with the Mining Engineer's profile in accordance with the Specific Competencies set out in Order CIN/310/2009.

Description of the Qualification

The MUIM, is one of those qualifications offered by the UPM which has been adapted to integrate the Spanish University System into the ‘European Higher Education Area’, complying with the requirements set out in the consolidated text of the Governing Council agreements, MAP OF QUALIFICATIONS (Meetings of 26th June, 10th, and 24th July 2008). The access and registration regulations and the continuity regulations were approved by the Governing Council on 26th March 2009, and the rules for the recognition and transfer of credits, were approved on 26th February 2009.

This MUIM complies with all the conditions required by R.D. 1393/2007, of 29th October, which controls official university degrees, and the general rules set out for the ‘European Higher Education Area’ in accordance with Article 37 of ‘Ley Organica 6/2001’, of 21st December, as amended by ‘Ley Organica 4/2007’, of 12th April. In addition, the Royal Decree lays down the guidelines and conditions, and the verification and accreditation procedure, which curricula must pass for inclusion in the ‘Registro de Universidades, Centros y Títulos’ (RUCT).

The MUIM also complies with the ‘procedural’ and ‘content’ requirements of the various UPM Statutes.

When adapting qualifications to the new ‘European Higher Education Area’, the University must respond with a structural change, that also drives a change in teaching methodologies, and which focuses the objective on the student's learning process, so that it may continue way beyond graduation.
